  • Are remote or virtual sessions by phone or video calls just as good as in person?
For me, I have been working with people remotely and in person for decades and feel no differences. It is the stuff of connection and air that we are working with. Some people prefer phone because it gives some of their senses a rest from the intensity of screens and they feel they can recline or close their eyes and focus better. Others prefer the visual contact that video meetings create. The big thing is that you are free from interruptions and distractions and that on the other end, we allow ourselves a time for transitions. We can often forget to provide time to shift gears when we are not going to a place and everything seems to roll one thing into the next. This fools the mind into being in a subtle anxiety state of go go go, and dumping some information quickly to make room for more because there's a bit of a hurry going on. If we allow time in between things, our system perceives no hurry, therefore, no threats. We take the brain break our system needs to digest our experience. Does that make sense? Any questions? Let's talk about it!
  • Do you teach any private classes?
Yes. If you have an idea or would like one on one instruction, or to create your own small group, in something you believe we are a good fit for, contact me with your ideas. Everything I offer on my website in services, art and writing, I have decades of experience and training in, and I am happy to share with you if it feels like now is the time. You can always reach me by email or phone if you have questions. I look forward to your ideas!
  • What is the difference between a Spiritual Counselor, Spiritual Coach, and a Spiritual Director?
Counseling/Therapy: presence, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based models of a structured relationship that can also be found in spiritual counseling when the spiritual counselor is credentialed and trained well. Spiritual Counseling as a term has unfortunately been stretched to fit degree programs, non-degree programs, seminary programs, faith-based programs, and pop up unknown "certificate" programs that may be money grabs. Please know what you are participating in. Coaching: identifying, creating and guiding toward mapped goals. Coaches may be certified, have certificates (which is not the same as being certified), or neither and be self-proclaimed. They may be for performance, life matters, spiritual matters, creativity, and so on. All three of these may sound similar, but provide very different services. The line is not actually grey between them. Please consider where you are, what you are feeling or sensing a need for, and be clear who is the right fit for you. Ask questions if you are unsure. Ask questions about their training and background without worrying if you will offend the practitioner. Also, trust yourself within the relationship you enter into, to lean into what feels like a right relationship with your inner self. Any questions? Get in touch. We can talk more about it. I offer all three categories of services and care, a Spiritual Director/Companion, a Spiritual Counselor, and a Spiritual Coach/Wholeness Arts Coach, all based from decades of experience and academic accomplishments. Questions? Ask. I'm here. Contact Birdi
  • What is a spiritual director? (AKA Spiritual Companion)
Spiritual Directors (Spiritual Companions): do not form answers, diagnosis, treatment plans or work with evidence-based methods. We are walking with you a while as you explore and deepen your spiritual relationship and intimate understandings of your own practice at this time in life. A Spiritual Director can have a variety of co-training and skills, varied experience, and techniques or methods, but also requires a measure of counseling background to guide and companion someone during a crisis of spirit, faith, or be well-suited to direct, companion, support a variety of someone elses body of experience, needs, and surprises with care, presence, foresight, sensitivity, creativity, and compassion. Also the spiritual companion/director may have their own practices and belief structures, however, depending on the director and their individual modalities, please be sure to see if they are a match for yours or at least able to set aside theirs to be present for yours without a bias. To me, this is companioning, to be present for you, as you are, where you are, not to impose or bring you to wherever they may be. Here's a New York Times article about Spiritual Directors that you might find helpful: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/13/style/self-care/spiritual-directors-faith-religion.html
  • What is the difference between Spiritual Counseling and Conventional Counseling?
I believe the difference resides in a wholistic approach where we look at our spirit as an integral part of our being. This does not mean our religion or that I have a religious agenda. This means our morality, our essence, or as buddhism discusses, our "essential self" and approaching our well-being through wholeness. At times, people combine conventional and spiritual counseling, finding they are complementary. The approach of spiritual counseling is to speak to the identity of who we ARE, who we know ourselves to be, who we feel we came here to be, and how that may be in harmony or disruption with our lives, our perceptions, our relationships, our actions, our pasts, our circumstances, our beingness. As in Interfaith Minister, with my Doctorate in sacred dialogue, engagement and activism, my practices grounded in Wholeness, several certificates in spiritual and creative practices, and a couple of Masters in therapeutic and spiritual studies, and my undergrad career in hospice, I have a wide breath of compassionate and clear knowledge of spiritual and cultural nuance. I am involved with advancing the awareness and rights of LGBTQA+ community. All are welcome, come as you are. connect@birdisinclair.com
  • What is an Animal Communication session?
Animal communication is helpful with animals companions living or passed to connect with their health, needs, ideas, personalities, preferences, discomforts, fears, relationships, behaviors, circumstances. This is a comforting and guiding way to talk about details I personally would really have no way of knowing, so you know it is coming from them. It brings the relationships closer, clears misunderstandings, heals unresolved grief, aids decisions. I do not help find lost animals, and I'm sorry for this. I also do not discuss the pasts of animals who are adopted as there is often no way to validate this information, nor is it helpful to them for us to stay in their pasts when they are willing and wanting to move forward, with you. These sessions are designed to be about love and clarity, in being in the present in an understanding and intimate, detailed way, and can be so bonding. In readings for animals who have passed, I will still talk about details that I will have no way of knowing, and they will have relevant conversation with you about what you most need to hear from them. This can be very healing, even funny, warm, and have some surprising care and suggestions about current things going on in your life. They had a front row to everything after all! I often recommend an 1.5 hours for these meetings. Please note when scheduling that you would like an animal communication session. Click here to schedule
  • What is a Medical Intuitive? What is Medical Intuition?
Medical intuition can be defined differently depending on who you ask, what you read, your own beliefs. How I work with medical intuition is directly related to specific body systems, direct information about your body health, environments, supports, tests, dietary influences, and so on. This can apply to yourself, your loved ones, and even pets/animal companions. I will not talk about past lives or auras, chakras being in or out of alignment, or angelic realms or use metaphysical-healing language. I will not diagnose or treat. We will talk about recognizable situations, conditions and circumstances in clear details that are relatable and helpful in your specific conditions. This provides guidance, understanding, clarity for you to consider as you make decisions about your care. Want to schedule a medical intuitive session? Click here to schedule a session, and specify you would like Medical Intuition. As always, I am available for questions.
  • What is a Spiritual Life Coach? Are Spiritual Life Coaches Certified?
A spiritual coach will work with root causes instead of treating or diagnosing symptoms. Spiritual coaching is a way to involve a spiritual element to the traditional coaching relationship. A spiritual coach guides toward inner happiness, peace and harmony while supporting a unique understanding of a sense of wholeness in mind, body, and spirit. A spiritual coach, also called a spiritual life coach, explores the deeper connections between people, nature, and the Universe. A spiritual coach is someone who helps you connect to who you truly are, your essential self. They work with you to change/re-direct/navigate your life, uncover your innermost understandings so the steps taken toward goals are more aligned with your actual nature, and this ripples into healing, greater understanding and the removal of roadblocks. A spiritual coach uses a deeper, more holistic approach. It is not typically about a specific faith or religious practice. It is a more intimate guidance and companionship toward your in-born spirituality. This is very helpful when navigating the between times of deep changes, transitions, and life's upheavals, to have on inner working language of yourself firmly in place. A spiritual life coach can be more life-goal oriented, understanding ourselves with deeper meaning and focus within our life goals and paths. A spiritual director relationship is more about adjusting the Between, re-establishing the deeper spaces of Who am I as a spiritual being, and what does this mean inside and outside of myself. It is not a requirement for people to be certified. Be clear on what you want and how they are qualified to serve you. Many take an accredited certification program or are trained in a recognized seminary and continue to invest in their training throughout their careers like any professional. Some are self-proclaimed, hmmm. Who knows about them, and why they feel qualified, so ask and find the match that works for you.
